10 pro-governor Nyaribo Wards Reps kicked out in gigantic County Assembly purge 

Ten Nyamira County Assembly Ward Representatives were Wednesday suspended from the House for absenteeism.

The disciplinary measure against the ten appeared to mark a fresh twist to violent wrangles that had been dogging assembly since the Impeachment of speaker Enock Okero.

New speaker Thaddeus Nyabaro accused the faction of flouting the law by skipping at least eight consecutive plenary sessions.

Rigoma MCA, Nyambega Gisesa, also the United Progressive Party chair and Governor Amos Nyaribo ally was among those affected.

He is deemed to be the leader of the band of colleagues supportive of the impeached speaker.

Also affected is Joel Ombongi (Bokeira Ward) together with eight nominated MCAs- Martha Marua (ANC), Janerose Nafula (ODM), Lydia Mosiere (Ford Kenya) and UPA’s Zipporah Matundura, Edna Obara, Jeriah Nyakangi, Beatrice Onyancha and Elijah Abere.

Two others, Abel Mose (Magwagwa)and Lameck Sikweya (Itibo Ward) earned a seven and sixteenth sittings suspension consecutively.

The resolution for their suspension was contained in a report by the Assembly’s Powers and Privileges Committee, chaired by Bonyamatuta MCA Julius Matwere.

The report, the Speaker stated, found the affected MCAs guilty of a punishable misconduct.

They were especially found guilty of “continued participation in the controversial Bunge Mashinani parallel to the official Assembly chambers sittings”.

The illegal sessions were chaired by impeached former Speaker Enock Okero.

Okero was sent packing following an Impeachment with a subsequent a court ruling upholding it.
