Over 100 Kenyans Arrested In Saudi Arabia For Prostitution And Possession Of Illegal Drugs

A crackdown on illegal expatriates in Saudi Arabia’s capital of Riyadh saw 100 Kenyans arrested.

Police and other security personnel conducted raids in various estates and ‘rest houses’ where 100 Kenyans mostly found with alcohol which is prohibited in the kingdom were arrested.

The raids were reportedly conducted in the wee hours of Thursday morning where police stormed different rest houses known as ‘Istrahas’, where different Nationals including Kenyans were arrested with drugs including bhang and a pistol also recovered.

Sources claim there was confrontation with the police prompting police to fire in the air. Those arrested will be charged with prostitution, possession of illegal guns as well as violation of labour and residency regulations.

The crackdown comes after the Saudi government gave a 90 days amnesty on illegal expatriates to leave the Kingdom peacefully.
