Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen is no longer the Senate majority leader.

In changes made by the Jubilee party on Monday morning, the DP William Ruto ally has been replaced by West Pokot’s Samuel Poghisio.

Poghisio who was elected through the KANU party will be deputized by Isiolo’s Fatuma Dullo.

Also losing their post was Nakuru senator and now former majority whip Susan Kihika.

The vocal legislator who belongs to the Tanga Tanga part of the divide was replaced by her deputy and Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata.

Kang’ata will on his part be deputized by Wajir nominated senator Farhiya Ali Haji.

The changes were made during a Jubilee Party parliamentary group meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kenyatta called for the meeting against the backdrop of a KANU-Jubilee coalition post election agreement.

The agreement was received by Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu on May 8.

“This is to certify that Jubilee Party and Kanu, fully registered political parties under the Political Parties Act, 2011, deposited a coalition agreement. Form PP 19 was filed on May 4, 2020 by the chairmen and secretary-generals of the two parties,” said Ms Nderitu.

Sources indicated that the president was keen on realigning leadership in both houses of parliament.

In a statement, the president assured the new Senate leadership of his support as they deliver services to Kenyans.

According to former state house employee Dennis Itumbi, the party in official communication lied about the number of senators present.

According to Itumbi, only 15 lawmakers were in attendance.

Interesting. @StateHouseKenya has lied in an official statement. That meeting only had 15 people. If they had numbers watoe list na PICHA. Chopper sent for Senator Ali, rejected. Senator Naomi Waqo stood her ground too. #HustlerNation

Senator Aaron Cheruiyot claimed that out of 35 Jubilee elected senators, 23 chose to give the meeting a wide berth.

“You will never see photos of the purpoted Jubilee Senators PG for the very simple reason that NUMBERS do not lie. Of the 35 Jubilee Senators, 23 kept off. What has befallen the ruling party? Amidst a global health pandemic, we are engaged in such monkey business?” he posed.
