taxi driversKenyans have highly benefited from the online taxi services and taxi drivers since their inception.

Uber, Taxify, Little Cab and Mondo ride have become household names.

The drivers of these online taxi services have now said that they will go on an indefinite strike from Monday 9th September. They say that the strike is due to mismanagement by their service providers where they work long hours and end up not making profits.

The taxi drivers under the umbrella of the Kenya Digital Taxi Association have said that the taxi hailing companies have been giving customers discounts and free rides without consulting them.

They have therefore come up with a set of demands to taxi hailing companies in order to resume duty. They want the minimum charge to be Ksh.300 across all service providers.

Uber drivers want the commission percentage to be reduced from 25% to 10% on the lower side and 15% on the higher side.

They also want the hailing companies to reduce the registration of new cars as there is already enough competition for customers.

The taxi drivers say that there has been a drastic loss of income.
