    Safaricom M-PESA 1Tap To Be Rolled Out In Four Major Towns

    mpesa 1tapAfter several trials over the course of four months Safaricom has announced that they will now extend their MPESA 1Tap to Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret and Nyeri.

    The service will be available for all Lipa Na M-PESA merchants and subscribers.

    The new service will ease the process of making and receiving cashless payments while also improving the accuracy and privacy of Lipa Na M-PESA.

    “As a trusted, easy and convenient cashless payment solution for more than 70,000 businesses in Kenya, Lipa Na M-PESA is ready to advance to become a more seamless solution. M-PESA 1Tap builds on a strong foundation built on 10 years of learning and feedback from both our customers and merchants. We hope it will transform the world of cashless payments,” said Bob Collymore, CEO Safaricom.

    The new 1Tap will soon be available at supermarkets, petrol stations and restaurants.

    Shell, Naivas, Choppies, KenolKobil, KFC, Oil Libya, Total and QuickMart are among the merchants said to avail the payment service.

    Subscriber will now be able to get the 1Tap  wristband, phone sticker or card to use at the selective merchant terminals. Tags can be bought from the Safaricom shops and dealers for Sh20.

    The service was launched in Nakuru County in May 2017, with over 90,000 subscribers and 2,000 merchants using the service.
