Microsoft has revealed that they will be workings with more than 1,000 entrepreneurs in Africa to get their businesses online.

This comes as the company partners with the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) which offers a 12-month long entrepreneurship program that provides business training, mentoring, access to seed capital funding and the TEF Africa-wide Network membership.

As a result entrepreneurs of the program will be given access to cloud-based software, online support and its Biz4Africa platform.

“Through this partnership, we are supporting each other’s mission to enable Africa’s entrepreneurs to drive their businesses forward,” said Parminder Vir, chief executive at the Tony Elumelu Foundation.

TEF through its 4Afrika Initiative will work together with Microst to engage in Africa’s economic development.

According to Microsoft Nigeria general manager Akin Banuso technology is key to small and medium sized entrepreneurs’ (SME) growth.

“We’ve found that SMEs who adopt this kind of modern IT have seen 15 per cent faster revenue growth than those not using it,” he said.
