    Girl Braves Albinism To Emerge Country’s Top Candidate

    A girl with Albinism has beaten odds to emerge the top pupil in this year’ KCPE examination after the results were released today.

    Goldalyn Kadiya from St. Anne Junior Lubao in Kakamega County beat other over a million pupils and scored 455 out of the possible 500 marks.

    Kadiya has thus secured herself a National School despite having sat her exams in a private school as CS Matiang’i has promises all who scored 400 and above will get a slot in National schools.

    The daughter of a Kibabi University lecture and West Kenya Sugar Manager who braved ailments associated with her condition wants to be a neurosurgeon or banker in life.

    The placement, he said will be done before December 12.

    9,846 pupils scored 400 marks and above, an improvement from 2016’s 5,143. He also pointed out that the number of pupils with less that 100 marks dropped significantly by 4,000.

    The examinations were marked in a record 19 days thanks to optical machines valued at Sh100 million, said CEO KNEC, Prof George Magoha. He also said that the machines offered 99.98 per cent accuracy.
