
A Nyeri Member of the County Assembly (MCA) has died at the Outspan Hospital.
Peter Weru collapsed while addressing the crowd at Nduduini Primary School, Mathira constituency during the Jamhuri Day celebrations.
Confirming his death was Governor Mutahi Kahiga who said that the MCA was receiving treatment when he died.
Before being rushed to Outspan, Weru had been taken to Jamii Hospital where his condition worsened.
“He went into cardiac arrest when he was Jamii Hospital and decision made that he needed to be under intensive care unit. We received him in a very critical condition,” Dr Jeff Muigai said.
Mr Weru cut short his speech and complained of a headache.
Nyeri County assembly speaker John Kaguchia said that Weru who was serving as chair of the Health committee, was a reasonable, mature politician.

“He was a person who would resolve situation sin a very composed manner. Our prayer is that God spares the county from any other calamity,” the speaker said.

This comes barely a month after laying to rest the third Nyeri Governor, Dr Wahome Gakuru who died following a tragic road accident at Kabati.
The deceased has left behind a wife and two children.
