Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO, Ezekiel Mutua together with the Council of Imams and Preachers in Kenya (CIPK) want toy guns banned from the Kenyan market.

The toys, they argued instill a culture of violence in the young ones.

”Why should a child have a gun? What are we teaching them? Do you want them to become terrorists? We must ban them. A toy gun is not good for our children instead buy for them computers, books or a football so that they become the next Victor Wanyama,” the moral police officer said in Mombasa.

Speaking at the Kenya School of Government on Saturday, Mutua noted that action packed video games should also be done away with.

”We are socializing children to violence and crime. Parents should guard what their children are watching in the movies. Computer games where people are shot dead and houses torched are not good,” he added.

The KFCB boss has submitted a bill to Parliament that will ensure that content that could potentially erode children’s morals is regulated.

This came after numerous complaints against Citizen Tv’s 10 Over 10 show. The Friday night show, Dr Mutua said is an ‘indecent show that goes against everything that a morally upright society holds dear.’

”This is one of the most obscene shows ever to be aired on the mainstream media in Kenya where young boys and girls are paraded in a diabolical show of scatology, engulfed in smoke, amidst blaring and deafening noise. It’s the epitome of indecency and goes against everything that a morally upright society holds dear. To have young boys and girls gyrating their bodies on each other like lunatics while being cheered on by irresponsible adults who call themselves show hosts is the most disgusting abuse of national frequencies,” he lamented on social media.
