A letter doing rounds on the internet claiming that the government has declared a curfew in Nairobi county, is fake, the government has said.

In the letter dated January 29, Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, Fred Matiang’i imposed curfew on areas ‘comprised in Nairobi County’ starting January 29 at 10.00pm till January 30 at 6.00pm.

But the state has asked Nairobi residents to ignore the contents of the said letter, terming it as ‘FAKE.’

There is tension in the city as NASA has threatened to go ahead with its swearing in ceremony at the already cordoned off Uhuru Park.
