Mombasa Youths on Friday assembled outside Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s office where they sought to swear him in as the People’s Deputy President.

Police dispersed the youths carrying placards on them written ‘Kalonzo Watermelon,’ and another ‘Kalonzo coward, Mudavadi Coward, Wetangula Coward, Joho Shujaa.’

The ‘Sultan’ as he is commonly referred to stood next to the now People’s President, Raila Odinga on Tuesday as he took the ‘oath’ of office.

Missing was Kalonzo Musyoka who was supposed to take the deputy’s oath alongside Odinga.

But defending himself, Kalonzo said that he, together with Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula were technically under house arrest and their security withdrawn by the government.

Mbita MP, Millie Odhiambo hinted at Joho making a play for the Presidency or Deputy Presidency come 2022.

“I have exhaled … 2022 is equal to no obligation. No ‘kuridisha mkono (returning favours). Man-Joho you were present,” she said on social media.

This times at a time when the government is cracking down on ‘facilitators and co-conspirators’ of the purported Raila swearing in.

Ruaraka MP, TJ Kajwang was arrested on Wednesday for administering an illegal oath and his NRM counterpart, Miguna Miguna on Friday for being part of an illegal group and administering the ‘oath.’

The state is also in search of three Nation journalists: Ken Mijungu, Linus Kaikai and Larry Madowo.
