Veteran journalist, lawyer, and entrepreneur Ken Mijungu has parted ways with Cape Media’s TV47 just days after his arrival at the station.
In a letter seen by Kahawa Tungu, TV47 management has opted not to move forward with the anchor who left Standard Group’s KTN weeks ago.
“Having considered the matter, management has taken the decision to revoke the Service Agreement dated 31st January, 2025. This decision takes effect from the 22nd February, 2025. This development notwithstanding, we shall be pleased to engage with you on future possibilities. Management wishes you the best in your future endeavours,” the letter reads in part.
TV47 announced Mijungu’s move on February 7, 2025.
The station also revealed its transition from Channel 268 to Channel 274 on DStv, taking over the slot previously occupied by KTN News.
“Cape Media is happy to announce that Ken Mijungu will be joining the TV47 team, on the same day the station announced that TV 47 will be moving from Channel 268 to Channel 274, on DStv from 12th February 2025. These come as part of the plans to make TV 47 Bigger, Better and Bolder,” TV47 said on X.
Mijungu began his career at CCTV Africa before joining Mediamax Network Ltd.
He later transitioned to Nation Media Group (NTV), where he served as a senior reporter and hosted a political talk show dubbed Sidebar.
In 2020, Mijungu joined Standard Media Group’s KTN News as a news anchor and current affairs host.
At KTN News, he played a significant role in political reporting and analysis.
Beyond journalism, Mijungu is a trained lawyer. He also manages a car hire business, which he has been running alongside his media career.
