A 38-year-old patient died by suspected suicide at Homa Bay County Referral Hospital on Sunday.

Police said the man identified as Mike Juma hanged himself inside ward seven toilet where he was recuperating after an admission.

The hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr. Vincent Oduor said that the patient who has been ailing from Tuberculosis was admitted in the isolation cube where he was receiving medical attention.

Dr Oduor says that the patient went into the male toilet within ward 7 to bathe and hanged himself. The deceased’s body was found inside the toilet by a caretaker who raised an alarm to the hospital management.

Homa Bay Sub County Police Commander Emmanuel Kiplagat said their preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had skipped his TB medications before the incident.

The body was moved to the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Elsewhere in Loitoktok, Kajiado County, a 15-year-old boy died by suicide outside his parents’ house. The motive of the incident is yet to be established, police said.

The body was found hanging on a tree next to his parents’ house on May 16. Police said the body was moved to Loitoktok morgue awaiting autopsy.

Elsewhere in Nyalenda, Kisumu County, one Joachim Mugwang Ayimba, 89 was found dead in his locked house. His relative went to check on him and found the door locked from inside.

The relative opened the house through a window and found the deceased seated on a chair and leaning over the table while facing downwards.

The scene was visited by police and the body was found seated on the chair and leaning on the table, facing downwards, and fluid oozing from his mouth. The body had no physical injuries.

The cause of death was not immediately established, and the body was moved to Kisumu County Referral Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
