The body of a woman was found in a river after she had been murdered by unknown people in Nyataro, Etago, Kisii County.

Police said the body was found in River Gucha long after the murder.

The body had a deep cut in the forehead and the back of the head.

It also had both its ears chopped off by the assailants. Her eyes were also gouged and the private parts were swollen when the body was found, police said.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said of the May 23 incident.

Elsewhere in Kaptagat, Elgeyo Marakwet County, the body of one Stanley Kipkemoi Kendagor, 37 was found on the banks of a stream.

The body was discovered in Ntororo village and blood oozed from the mouth, a swollen neck and multiple injuries on the hands.

His shoes, jacket, shirt and trouser were found at a different location uphill.

It is suspected he was killed and the body dumped into the stream.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Meanwhile, two fishermen are missing after their boat capsized in Kilifi.

The two were in the company of a woman who survived in the Indian Ocean on Saturday afternoon.

The group went fishing on May 23 but failed to return. This prompted other fishermen to venture into the waters to search for them.

The rescue team found the woman struggling to swim out of the water while her two colleagues were nowhere to be seen.

She was rescued and taken to a hospital in the area on Saturday afternoon, almost a day later.

Police said the boat the group was using was found in the deep sea and retrieved to the old ferry yard.

A search and rescue mission is ongoing, officials said.
