Her siblings include five older brothers and sisters: Mônica Sangalo, Cíntia (also known as Cynthia) Sangalo, Ricardo Sangalo, Marcos Sangalo, and Jesus Sangalo.

Growing up, Sangalo shared a vibrant household influenced by music, as her father often encouraged musical gatherings, and the siblings navigated both joyful moments and hardships together, including the early death of their father from a heart attack.

In 1993, she joined the axé band Banda Eva as lead singer, achieving massive success with their live album that sold over a million copies.

She departed the band in 1999 to launch a solo career, releasing her self-titled debut album that quickly earned gold and platinum certifications.

Subsequent studio and live albums, such as Festa (2001), MTV Ao Vivo (2004), As Super Novas (2005), and Multishow ao Vivo: Ivete no Maracanã (2007), became monumental hits, many achieving diamond status in Brazil.

Her live performances at iconic venues like Maracanã Stadium and Madison Square Garden solidified her reputation for spectacular shows.

Beyond music, Sangalo expanded into television, hosting programs like Estação Globo and The Masked Singer Brasil, serving as a coach on The Voice Brasil, and appearing in films and series.

In recent years, releases like Macetando (2024) have kept her at the top of streaming charts, marking her as a pioneering artist across multiple eras of Brazilian music.

    Accolades

Sangalo has won four Latin Grammy Awards, including Best Brazilian Roots/Regional Album for MTV Ao Vivo (2005), Best MPB Album for a collaborative project with Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso (2012), Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album for Multishow Ao Vivo: Ivete Sangalo 20 Anos (2014), and Best Portuguese Language Roots Album for a later project (2021).

Domestically, she holds records with 16 Prêmio Multishow de Música Brasileira wins and multiple Troféu Imprensa and Melhores do Ano awards from TV Globo, often honored as Best Singer or for standout songs like “Festa” and “Sorte Grande.”

Her live DVD from Maracanã was the world’s best-selling in its release year, and her tours rank among the highest-grossing by a Brazilian female artist.
