Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi was Wednesday charged with assault causing bodily harm and malicious damage to property following his arrest on Tuesday by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

Kibagendi appeared at Narok Law Courts before Senior Resident Magistrate Esther Mwikali, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was released on Sh100,000 cash bail or a Sh200,000 bond.

Court documents indicate that the MP allegedly assaulted Enock Moriasi on November 27, 2025, at Java House in Kisii town, causing bodily harm.

He also faces charges of damaging an iPhone Pro Max valued at Sh230,000, as well as restaurant property, including a chair, four plates, and a cup valued at Sh20,000.

Magistrate Mwikali noted there were no compelling reasons to deny bail.

Kibagendi was arrested in Nairobi, held at Keroka Police Station, and later transferred to Narok.

Residents have expressed concerns about political targeting as investigations continue.

The case will be mentioned again for trial preparations.

Kibagendi is a supporter of former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi in his bid for president.
