Detectives are investigating an incident where a 30-year-old businesswoman was shot and wounded in a robbery incident in Kabras area, Kakamega County.
The woman was robbed of a purse with Sh500 and mobile phone after being shot in the wrist by the attackers in the March 9 incident.
The victim is a business lady in Malava Town. She told police she had closed her business and was headed home when she was confronted by the suspects who were riding on a motorcycle.
The gang of two escaped soon after the incident as the woman was rushed to the hospital.
A team of detectives visited the scene and recovered a 7.62 special spent cartridge and announced they were pursuing the gunmen.
The area has been experiencing a surge in crime in general amid efforts to address the trend.
In Iguhu area, Kakamega County, three suspects, one armed with an AK47 rifle attacked a businessman and robbed him of Sh12,000 and other personal valuables.
Police and witnesses said the suspects escaped on a motorcycle after an alarm was raised in the March 9 night incident.
A team of police officers was assigned to pursue the gunmen for justice.
Elsewhere along Nambale-Busibwabu road in Nambale, Busia County, a rider and a pillion passenger were attacked and seriously injured in a robbery incident.
The rider was robbed of his motorcycle in the attack as he sustained a cut on his forehead, police said.
The victims were rushed to the hospital as the hunt on the suspects in the robbery went on.
Police advise riders to always cooperate with their attackers for their own safety. There has been a surge in robberies on motorcycles amid efforts to solve the cases.
Police say most of the stolen or robbed motorcycles are sold to unsuspecting buyers.
Others are refurbished before being sold off, police investigations show.
