    D. Woods has at least one sibling, Shanell Woodgett, also a singer who performs under the name Shanell.

The two have collaborated musically, including on tracks like “Foolish Dreamer” from D. Woods’ EP The Gray Area.

They have spoken openly about their sisterly bond and shared passion for music in interviews, with D. Woods often referring to Shanell affectionately in social media posts, such as birthday tributes calling her a “BIG/lil sister.”

She was selected as one of the original members of Danity Kane, alongside Aubrey O’Day, Shannon Bex, Dawn Richard, and Aundrea Fimbres.

The group achieved significant success with their self-titled debut album in 2006, which went platinum, and the follow-up Welcome to the Dollhouse in 2008.

However, tensions within the group and with label executive Diddy led to her departure from Danity Kane in September 2008, alongside Aubrey O’Day.

She was officially released from her Bad Boy Records contract in early 2009.

Post-Danity Kane, D. Woods founded her own label, Woodgrane Entertainment, where she serves as CEO.

She has pursued solo music releases, including EPs and singles, while expanding into acting, dancing, and other entertainment ventures.

She has toured and performed independently, and in recent years, she has been part of Danity Kane reunion efforts, including the Untold Chapter Reunion Tour marking the group’s 20th anniversary.

She has also spoken publicly about her experiences in the industry, including challenging interactions during her time with Bad Boy Records.

    Accolades

As a key member of Danity Kane, D. Woods contributed to the group’s commercial achievements, including platinum certification for their debut album and hit singles like “Show Stopper” and “Damaged.”

The group earned recognition on music charts and MTV platforms during their peak.

Individually, her work has been noted for its versatility across singing, songwriting, and performance.
