Police in Kisumu County are investigating the death of a 79-year-old Swedish national who was found unresponsive at a residence in the Nyalenda area.

The incident was reported on the night of March 23, 2026 and police identified him as Benny Moller who had arrived in Kenya from Sweden on February 25, 2026, and was scheduled to return home on March 26.

According to the report, the deceased had been ailing and was using a wheelchair. He had been on medication, which he had travelled with from Sweden.

Police further established that he had recently sought treatment at Tayibya Medical Centre in Kisumu, where he was diagnosed with a bacterial infection and placed under medication.

On the evening of the incident at around 7:00 p.m., Moller was found unresponsive on a sofa in the sitting room, prompting a report to authorities.

The scene was processed before the body was moved to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation.

An autopsy is expected to be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.

Police have launched investigations into the incident, although preliminary indications point to a possible medical-related death.

Elsewhere, authorities in Kiambu County are investigating the discovery of human remains in Thika East Sub-County, suspected to be the result of an animal attack.

The remains were reported on March 23, 2026, at around 6:50 p.m. by security officer, who was on patrol at Delmonte Farm, Field 56.

Police officers visited the scene and confirmed that the body, believed to be of an African adult, had been severely mutilated, with the head, hands, and legs missing.

Investigators suspect that a hyena or similar predator was responsible, as all genital organs and breasts had been eaten, leaving only the rib cage intact. The gender of the deceased could not be determined at the scene.

Scene of Crime officers processed and photographed the site before collecting the remains, which were placed in a polythene bag and transported to the city mortuary for post-mortem examination and DNA analysis to establish the identity and cause of death.

Police have urged anyone with information about missing persons in the area to come forward to assist in the investigation.
