A police officer in Embu County is recovering after being bitten by a snake at his home on the evening of April 1, 2026.
The constable of police was attacked at around 7:00 p.m Wednesday shortly after arriving home from duty.
The incident occurred as he attempted to wear a pair of shoes, unaware that a snake had concealed itself inside.
The officer sustained a bite on his right wrist.
He was quickly rushed to Kiambere Dispensary, where he received emergency treatment, including the administration of anti-venom.
Police confirmed that the officer is in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
The incident highlights the risks posed by snakes hiding in household items, particularly in rural areas, and residents have been advised to remain vigilant and check footwear and clothing before use.
