Thomas Pieters is a prominent Belgian professional golfer known for his towering presence on the course and powerful ball-striking ability.
Born on January 27, 1992, in Geel, Belgium, Pieters stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall and began his golf journey at a young age.
He first picked up the game at five years old during a family holiday in South Africa, after which his parents introduced him and his siblings to the local Witbos Golf Club near their home.
Pieters honed his skills through the amateur ranks, earning a scholarship to the University of Illinois in the United States, where he excelled under coach Mike Small.
He turned professional in 2013 and has since established himself as Belgium’s leading golfer, competing on the DP World Tour (formerly European Tour), PGA Tour events, and more recently in the LIV Golf League.
Siblings
Pieters has two siblings, a brother named Pieter-Jan and a sister named Lieselotte.
The three siblings spent countless summers at Witbos Golf Club, where they practiced together, competed in friendly rivalries, and even fished golf balls out of water hazards to sell for extra pocket money.
Pieter-Jan has been particularly involved in Thomas’s golf world, caddying for him at times and sharing interests outside the game, including competitive car racing in old Volkswagens as part of a team with friends.
Lieselotte also played golf competitively, representing Wake Forest University.

Career
Pieters enjoyed a stellar amateur career at the University of Illinois, where he captured the individual 2012 NCAA Division I Championship and contributed to team successes, including multiple Big Ten titles and a runner-up finish at the 2013 NCAA Championships.
Named a two-time All-American, he became the first Belgian to compete in the Palmer Cup.
After turning professional in 2013, he quickly made an impact on the European Tour, securing his first victory at the 2015 Czech Masters.
He followed that with strong showings in major championships, notably finishing fourth at the 2016 Masters in his debut and earning a spot on the victorious 2016 European Ryder Cup team, where as a rookie he secured an impressive four points.
Pieters has accumulated six DP World Tour wins, including multiple triumphs at the Czech Masters, and has represented Belgium in the Olympics, posting a solid performance in 2016.
In 2022, he joined the LIV Golf League with the RangeGoats GC team, where he has continued to compete at a high level while enjoying a more flexible schedule that allows more time with his young family.

Pieters has secured six victories on the DP World Tour, with notable repeats at the Czech Masters, making him the first player to win that event multiple times.
His amateur highlights include the 2012 NCAA individual title and two All-American honors.
