    Austin Reed Dillon, born on April 27, 1990, in Lewisville, North Carolina, is a professional stock car racing driver who competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.

    He drives the iconic No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing (RCR), a team owned by his grandfather, NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Childress.

    As the son of Mike Dillon, RCR’s general manager and a former racer, Austin grew up immersed in the racing world, carrying forward a rich family legacy in motorsports.

    He is known for his competitive spirit, versatility across NASCAR’s national series, and success behind the wheel of the famous No. 3 car once driven by legends like Dale Earnhardt.

    Austin has one sibling, his younger brother Ty Dillon, who is also a professional NASCAR driver competing full-time in the Cup Series.

    The brothers share a deep bond rooted in their family’s racing heritage, often competing against each other on the track while maintaining a close personal relationship.

    They have raced together in various events, including short-track races, and even co-own a sports management agency called Team Dillon Management.

    Career

    Dillon made his NASCAR debut in 2008 and quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing his talent in the Truck Series and Xfinity Series before moving to the Cup Series.

    In the Camping World Truck Series, he earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2010 and captured the championship in 2011.

    He followed that up by winning the Xfinity Series (then Nationwide Series) championship in 2013.

    Dillon made his full-time Cup Series debut with RCR and has since established himself as a consistent contender, known for strong performances at superspeedways and his ability to deliver in high-pressure situations.

    Over his career, he has balanced his racing commitments with family life, including his marriage to Whitney Ward in 2017 and the birth of their son in 2020.

    Accolades

    Dillon is a two-time national series champion, winning the 2011 Truck Series title and the 2013 Xfinity Series championship.

    In the Cup Series, he has secured six victories, most notably the prestigious 2018 Daytona 500 in dramatic fashion with a last-lap pass.

    Additional Cup wins include the 2017 Coca-Cola 600, multiple victories at Richmond, Texas, and Daytona.

    He has earned multiple playoff appearances, a Daytona 500 pole in 2014, and Rookie of the Year honors in both the Truck and Xfinity Series.
