All seven people aboard a Eurocopter EC130 B4 helicopter that crashed at Lokowe Mountain in Samburu County on Wednesday morning have died.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) confirmed the aircraft accident involving helicopter registration 5Y-GYM, which was conducting a flight from Loisaba to Ewaso Nyiro when the accident occurred at approximately 9:13 a.m.
The seven occupants have been identified as Josh Outran, the pilot; Roger Duarte; Adam Navaty; Stephen Vasconquez; Henry Parra; Michael Contugi; and Suian Suarez, the only female occupant.
KCAA said it is coordinating with relevant agencies and stakeholders in response to the accident.
The Air Accident Investigation Department under the Ministry of Roads and Transport is leading investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The authority did not immediately disclose the cause of the accident.
KCAA extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims following the tragic incident.
The crash occurred at Lokowe Mountain in Samburu County, an area known for its rugged terrain and proximity to conservancies and tourism facilities.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish what caused the aircraft to crash and the circumstances leading to the deaths of all seven occupants.
