Police in Kisumu County have launched investigations into the murder of a 30-year-old man whose body was found beside a rough road in Eluhobe Village, Kisumu West Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Meshack Odera, was found lying lifeless about 250 metres from his rental house on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Police officers rushed to the scene following a report of the incident.
According to police, Odera had a deep stab wound on his back, from which blood was still oozing. He also had bruises on both knees.
The motive for the killing and the identities of the assailants had not been established by the time of reporting.
Detectives processed and documented the scene as investigations got underway.
The body was later removed and taken to Masaba Hospital Mortuary, where it was being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing and pursuing leads that could help identify and apprehend those responsible.
Elsewhere, police in Uasin Gishu County have launched investigations after the body of a 37-year-old man was recovered from River Mabanga in Turbo Sub-County.
The body of Kevin Avugwi, a Luhya man, was discovered floating in the river at Osorongai Sub-Location in Ng’enyilel on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Police said the incident was reported at about 6:33pm by a member of the public, identified as Nelson Meme, who alerted authorities after spotting the body.
Officers from Kipkaren River Police Station visited the scene and recovered the body from the water.
A preliminary examination found no visible physical injuries on the deceased, according to police.
The body was positively identified by the deceased’s father, Evans Chaya Avugwi.
Police documented the scene before moving the body to Village of Hope Hospital Mortuary in Musembe, where it was being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are ongoing.
Meanwhile, police in Bungoma County have launched investigations into the death of a 58-year-old man whose body was found inside his house in Dankaru Village, Cheptais Sub-County.
The deceased, identified as Wycliffe Wakuabubi Kumali, was found lying on his back in his bedroom on August 23, 2026.
He was found with bruises on his neck, chest, left ear and left hand.
Police also noted that the door to the house had been closed from the outside, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
The scene was processed and documented by police officers as investigations commenced.
The body was removed and taken to Bungoma Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause and circumstances of his death.
Detectives are investigating the incident and seeking to establish who may have been involved in the death.
