A police officer attached to the General Service Unit (GSU) headquarters in Ruaraka was seriously injured after he was allegedly stabbed in the abdomen by his girlfriend during a domestic dispute in Nairobi.

Police said the incident occurred on Wednesday at the officer’s rented residence near the Naivas Flyover.

The officer was reportedly involved in a quarrel with his girlfriend aged 30, when the dispute escalated.

Police said the woman allegedly armed herself with a kitchen knife and stabbed the officer in the abdomen, causing serious injuries and perforation of his intestines.

Good Samaritans who heard the commotion reportedly intervened and rescued the injured officer before rushing him to Scion Hospital in Embakasi.

He was admitted in serious condition and placed under specialised medical care. A team of police officers responded to the incident and arrested the woman.

She remained in police custody as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continued. Police suspect the incident may have stemmed from a domestic or romantic dispute.

Elsewhere, detectives in Dagoretti, Nairobi, arrested a woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend three times during an incident in Waithaka.

The victim sustained three stab wounds to the lower abdomen and was rushed to Philadelphia Medical Centre for treatment.

He was later referred to Mutuini Level Five Hospital for further medical care where he was admitted.

The suspect, was reportedly cornered by members of the public and handed over to police.

She was re-arrested and escorted to Waithaka Police Station, where she remained in custody as investigations into the suspected murder continued.

Such incidents have been on the rise in estates amid calls for parties to amicably solve their differences.
