Tanuja Samarth, known mononymously as Tanuja, is a distinguished Indian actress whose career has spanned over six decades in Hindi and Bengali cinema.

Born on September 23, 1943, into the illustrious Mukherjee-Samarth family, she is the daughter of actress Shobhna Samarth and filmmaker Kumarsen Samarth.

She is also the younger sister of the legendary actress Nutan, a fact that often precedes her, yet Tanuja carved her own distinctive path in the industry with her natural and spontaneous performances.
