Lauren Louise Filer is an English international cricketer born on 22 December 2000 in Bristol.
A right-handed batter and right-arm fast bowler, she has established herself as one of the most exciting young pace bowlers in the women’s game, known for generating genuine speed, bounce, and hostility.
She currently represents Durham in domestic cricket and has featured for Manchester Originals in The Hundred, having previously played for Somerset, Western Storm, Welsh Fire, and London Spirit.
Filer made her England debut in 2023 and has since appeared in Tests, One-Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals.
Siblings
Lauren has a twin sister named Jodie Filer.
The sisters began playing cricket together at a local club and progressed through the Somerset pathway from under-11 level all the way to senior women’s cricket.
Jodie also represented Somerset alongside Lauren in domestic competitions.
While Jodie has not reached the international stage, the twins shared a strong early connection to the sport and both also played football for the local club Hutton.
Career
Filer’s cricket journey started at a young age with her twin sister at a local club before they impressed at Somerset trials.
She made her senior debut for Somerset in 2018 and continued with the county through 2022.

In 2020 she signed her first professional contract with Western Storm, where she developed further in regional competitions including the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy.
She gained additional experience in The Hundred with Welsh Fire, London Spirit, and later Manchester Originals, while also representing Durham from 2025 onward on a multi-year deal.
Her international breakthrough came in June 2023 when she was called into the England squad for the Women’s Ashes Test against Australia at Trent Bridge.
She made an immediate impact by taking four wickets on debut.
Later that summer she debuted in ODIs against Sri Lanka, claiming three wickets for 27 runs in her first match and finishing the series with eight wickets.
She earned her T20I debut against New Zealand in March 2024.
Filer has continued to feature across formats for England, including further Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, building a reputation for pace that has at times seen her clock the highest recorded speeds in women’s international cricket.
She also studied sports science at Cardiff Metropolitan University while progressing through the ranks.
Accolades
Among her early recognitions, Filer received the Harry Burden Bursary Award in 2019, supporting young cricketers in the region.
In 2023 she was named Player of the Series in her maiden ODI series against Sri Lanka after taking eight wickets.
That same year she earned recognition as an Emerging Cricketer, including an award from the Cricket Writers’ Club, and was granted a development contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
She has contributed to England’s campaigns in major events, including reaching the final of the T20 World Cup as a runner-up in 2026.
