Kenya’s leading mobile and internet service provider Safaricom is suffering a countrywide data outage as a result of a fiber cut.

Reports indicate that voice calls are not affected in some parts of the country.

Kahawa Tungu has learnt that the telco is yet to identify the specific area where the cut happened.

Areas around Mombasa are reportedly suffering from both voice and data outage.

Safaricom has however apologized to its customers for inconveniences caused and are working round the clock to restore the services.

“We wish to apologize to our customers and partners that are currently experiencing voice and data outage, caused by multiple fiber link cuts affecting critical transmission equipment,” the telco has said in a statement.
