Kenya’s fixed internet market continued to expand in the fourth quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, with total subscriptions reaching 2.84 million by June 2026, according to the latest sector statistics from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).
The figure represents a 6.9 per cent increase from 2.66 million subscriptions recorded in March 2026, translating to about 182,000 additional connections during the quarter. Year-on-year, fixed internet subscriptions grew by 32.4 per cent, up from 2.14 million in June 2025.
Safaricom crossed the one-million-subscription mark, recording 1,024,950 fixed data subscriptions and a 36.1 per cent market share by the end of June. The operator had 735,749 fixed subscriptions a year earlier, representing growth of about 39.3 per cent over the period.
Jamii Telecommunications followed with 541,003 subscriptions and a 19.1 per cent market share. Wananchi Group accounted for 10.4 per cent, Ahadi Wireless 9.5 per cent and Poa Internet 8.8 per cent. Starlink Internet Services Kenya recorded 27,616 fixed subscriptions, equivalent to a 1.0 per cent market share.

Fibre optic remained the dominant fixed internet technology, with 1.57 million subscriptions, following 29.7 per cent year-on-year growth. Terrestrial wireless subscriptions rose by 42.9 per cent to slightly above 1.03 million, while satellite subscriptions increased by 54.4 per cent to 27,695.
The growth in subscriptions was accompanied by increased demand for international internet capacity. Utilized international bandwidth rose from 18,678.824 Gbps to 19,432.074 Gbps, representing a 4.0 per cent quarterly increase and 23.9 per cent growth compared with the previous year.
The figures point to continued expansion of Kenya’s broadband ecosystem as consumers and businesses increasingly rely on fixed connectivity for work, entertainment, education and digital services.
