    President Kenyatta Directs Payment Of Cane Farmers In Mashujaa Day Celebrations

    President Uhuru Kenyatta while celebrating Mashujaa day directed that cane farmers are paid and that the money should be paid to farmers and not anyone else.

    He also said that the Sh.2.6 billion that had already been disbursed to pay cane farmers to be audited first. The president however urged  farmers to sell their produce to factories that are well run and pay on time . The cautioned factories that failed to pay prompltly to up their game and honour their obligations

    He instructed the county government and the ministry of Agriculture to come up with a task force to come up with recommendations within the month to find lasting solutions so curb the sugar menace that is rampant in the region.

    The President instructed the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture to bring to book the unscrupulous trades to book or face the music on behalf of those corrupt traders.

    He also directed a joint task force with governor Khaemba and governor Mandagor to ensure that the maize problem is sorted out.

    President Kenyatta urged Kenyans to help him in the fight against the menace of corruption, he said tat no matter the standing in society, we are all equal before the law.

    The President said lauded the former Prime Minister in his appointment to the African Union as the High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa, saying that it was a result of the handshake. He said that Kenyans should embrace the spirit of the handshake and stop tribal politics.

    He said those who did not support the handshake and unity of the country had no space in the country’s development agenda.
