A Kakamega woman Susan Mugasia was one lucky woman after the Deputy President William Ruto took tea in her kiosk.

The DP paid his bill worth Sh250  with Sh100000 and told her to keep change. It was double blessings for the Shianda market trader who got to host VIPs and smile all the way to the back with DPs hefty compensation for her delicious tea.

Ruto was accompanied by the Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka and Sports CS Rashid Echesa among other dignitaries.

Kenyans were quick to react to the gesture by the Deputy president with most of them saying it was not an act of kindness but he was just promoting the hand out culture.

Here are some of the reactions:

Mhe this aint healthy…….. What we need are structures to ensure susan get a net profit of 100k per month…….

I wish these leaders could do more right things . eg. Proper medical care for all, education, tackle unemployment, historical land injustices and more .

    🤪Now, how is this leadership!
Good policies by the government 🇰🇪 will enable Susan Mugasia's children to invest & SUCCEED in the future. NOT HAND OUTS. If you can be excited for such acts then 🇰🇪should be termed failed state, where citizens hope for luck for success & progress

No wonder Mulembe nation MPs are clutching at the coat tails of the DP. If a peasant biz lady is given 100k, what about a politician who has promised to deliver thousands of votes. Njaa itatumaliza

Luhya leaders led by former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale hosted DP Ruto  in Kakamega where he promised to campaign for the leader on the ground come 2022.

He said that Raila had betrayed the Luhya nation  for far too long and said that he is ready to support the Deputy President in his bid for presidency.
