A Homabay county official, Thadayo Nyakwaka, who worked as the head of Laboratory department in Rangwe Sub- county hospital has committed suicide.

Mr Nyakwaka is said to have faced financial challenges which has prompted him to try to commit suicide a number of times.

The victim is reported to have drowned himself in a well, inside his home compound.

This is not the first time as he had previously tried to drown himself in a pit-latrine.

“He had attempted to plunge himself in a pit latrine but the latrine had no water. His sister followed him and got him out of the pit,” said the area chief.

Ndiwa OCPD has said that investigations are being carried out to determine the cause behind the death.
