Canada landed ten tries across the Kenya Simbas try line as both sides kicked off their Rugby World Cup Repechage in Marseille.

The first half saw The Simbas score two tries through Tony Onyango and Leo Seje Owade with Mukidza adding a successful conversion to Mukidza’s try. Canada on the other hand booted in a penalty kick through Gordy Mcrorie taking an early 3-0 lead.

The points seemed to set the momentum for this side as they landed two quick tries through Van Der Merwe and Brett Beaukeboom with one successful conversion. 13 minutes into the match, Canada were leading 15-0 but The Simbas bounced back in the game as a driving maul set up Tony Onyango to land their maiden try. Conversion sailed wide.

30th minute, Van Der Merwe landed his brace but the conversion that followed sailed wide, Canada leading 20-5. Barely two minutes after, Leo Seje Owade pounced on a loose ball as a result of Sammy Oliech’s grabber kick. Mukidza sure with his boot added the twos. Scores now read 20-12 to Canada.

At the stroke of half time, fullback Theo Sauder sliced through the Kenyan defense to score Canada’s bonus-point try as they lead Kenya 27-12 at the break.

Second half started with the Simbas landing a try through George Nyambua as the forwards overpowered the Canadians in a maul. Mukidza booted in the two points for Simbas to narrow down the gap to 27-19.

The Simbas intensity seemed to dwindle down as from this point onward, it was a Canadian show. In the span of 30 minutes, they landed six tries and four conversions taking their lead to 65-19 at the 78th minute. Scores remained the same to the 80th minute when the referee called it full time.

The Simbas next match is on Saturday, 17th November, against Germany.

Germany beat Hong Kong 26-9 in their fixture which was played after the Canada vs Simbas game.
