Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe is expected back in court tomorrow (Tuesday), her close friend Dennis Itumbi has disclosed.

Ms Maribe was let out of Lang’ata Women’s Prison on September 31 after successfully applying for bail.

Justice James Wakiaga freed her on a Sh2 million surety bond with an alternative of a Sh1 million tripartite surety cash bail.

This was after spending a little over a month in remand. She was charged with the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani alongside her fiance, Joe “Jowie” Irungu who was denied bail.

According to Justice Wakiaga, the suspect is the “male version of a slay queen” or a “woman eater” without a known physical address.

“He was living in the house of the second accused (Maribe), driving her car with no known source of income since 2017 when he provided security to some Jubilee Party politicians,” the judge explained.

The judge also ordered that Ms Maribe be allowed to pick her personal belongings from her house which is being treated as a crime scene.

But according to Itumbi, the mother of one is yet to be allowed back into her home.

“Very sad that the prosecution has yet to provide her with witness statements or even access to her house to pick her clothes and those of her son. That is despite clear court orders last month,” he said on Twitter.

He further castigated the prosecution for disobeying court orders.

“Justice should be done and seen to be done at all times But then again the Prosecution, it seems are a law to themselves, they operate on their own orders and disobey the ones they want as they wish, in street Lingua….mtado?” he continued.

She has also through her lawyer Katwa Kigen wants the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji and DCI George Kinoti found in contempt of court for failing to hand over the house, car,  phone, SIM and memory cards.

“Punishment(s) be meted out to the contemnors for their imprisonment for a period of up to six months and or a fine of Sh200,000 or otherwise as the court may deem fit, just and fair for the integrity of the court proceeding…” her application reads in part.

The journo has also sought to have disqualified from the case, lead prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki for failing to make available documents or materials likely to be used during the hearing of the case.

In the meantime, she wants the court to provide “monetary compensation for delay to hand over the house as the court may deem just and fair.”

Jowie was being remanded at the Industrial Area Prison but has since been moved to the Kamiti Maximum Prison.
