    President Kenyatta Vows Not To Assent To The Parliamentary Service Bill

    President Kenyatta has vowed not to assent to the bill to increase the benefits for members of parliament. The MPs had planned to pass the bill on Thursday before they go on recess.

    The President tweeted tat he will not assent to the purported to the Parliamentary Service Bill 2018, which proposes more benefits for MPs . He told the legislators to instead focus on improving the lives of their constituents an not only think of themselves.

    He said that a lot of the Members of Parliament would be annoyed with him but he chose to stand with the Mwanachi on the issue.

    The MPs have now turned the blaming finger on the media stating that the fourt estate has misled the Public, the President and party leaders on the contents of the Parliamentary Service bill 2018.

    “We forgive Uhuru and Raila because they were misguided on this Bill. The Constitution is clear to ensure members are facilitated to effectively serve Kenyans,” Jimmy Angwenyi The MP for Kitutu Chache North said in Parliament

    The Bill that will see all the 349 MPs enjoy rent-free housing, a government vehicle, an expanded medical cover among other benefits.

    Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader raila Odinga have openly castigated the MPs and told them to stop being greedy and focus on development.

    Raila described the bill as a “anti-people and an insensitive demand that should be disowned and rejected as inappropriate and unacceptable.”

    President Uhuru was attending the graduation of 77 alcoholics Mamacare Addiction Recovery Centre at Wangunyu, Kiambu County. Githeriman  Martin Kimotho was among the graduants who received a certificate for completing the 9 month program
