    Nairobi Hospital, Doctor Fined Sh 44.5 Million After Botched Brain Operation In 2005

    A man has been awarded Sh44.5 Million by Justice Odunga after a botched operation at Nairobi Hospital 14 years ago. The court also awarded his parents Sh1 Million.

    The parents wanted the hospital held liable for their son’s brain damage as he behaves like a six-year-old.

    The man went to hospital after a Nasal fracture after a basketball game in 2005. The man was a 14 year old form four student at St Marys High School.

    He suffered brain damage as a result of the negligence of the doctor that administered anesthesia. The parents blamed Dr. Praxedes Mandu Okutoyi and the Nairobi Hospital ENT surgeon for their sons condition.

    Justice Odunga directed that Nairobi hospital and the doctor pay the money.
