Assistant referee was caught on camera running inside the pitch during active play in a KPL match on Sunday.
The AR was sprinting to keep pace with an attacking move involving Gor Mahia forwards when he found himself right inside the pitch.
Samuel Onyango went ahead to complete the move in the 24th minute to hand K’Ogalo a slim 1-0 win over Sofapaka at the Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
According FIFA’s Law 6, during active play, assistant referees should strive to maintain a position even with either the second-to-last defender or the ball—whichever is closer to the goal line.
The assistant referee should stay about one or two feet outside of the touchline in order to maintain a wide-angle view of play close to the touchline and to avoid causing the ball to remain in play if it were to strike the assistant referee.

As a general rule the assistant referee should face the pitch whilst running.
Side-to-side movement should be used for short distances, this is especially important when judging offside and gives the assistant referee a better line of vision.
Running forwards should be used for sprinting. Be in a “ready position” before sprinting.
