Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has denied claims that the the new reconfigured iTax system will result in the abolishment of the annual tax returns for employed Kenyans.

KRA clarified that the tax returns would still be filed between the period of January to June but the process had been made easier.

“Please note that the information is wrong. PAYE returns are filed as usual,” KRA said in response to a taxpayer who sought information on the changes.

In the new system KRA explained that as opposed to prior occasions the information will be be keyed in an that that Kenyans will just have to review and confirm.

Employers who fail to deduct PAYE from the employee’s salary attract a Ksh. 10,000 fine or 25% of the amount of the tax involved.
