A Turkish businessman identified as Bulent Gulbahar attacked security guards and injured one at Gateway Complex along Mombasa Road.

In a CCTV footage obtained by Kahawa Tungu, the businessman is seen forcing his way to the premises by hitting the gate with his car.

It is alleged that he was accompanied by his lawyer, whom we are yet to identify.

Bulent is said to have leased the property and abandoned it, and the guards were not aware of him when he came on the material day shouting to them that he owned the property.

“The innocent guard has no idea who he is and obviously is taken back when someone starts shouting that he owns the property, refuses to do a security check, curses him and starts videoing the guard and on a Sunday when nobody visits the premises,” says a source who sough anonymity, for fear of the dreaded Mr Bulent who is said to be ‘untouchable’.

This desk learns that this is not the first time Bulent has behaved this way, as he hastried stangling the caretaker by the neck a few years ago.

Bulent, through Paragon Electronics Ltd (which is in a series of court cases with developers, tenants, KRA, banks, and other large corporations) bought one of the five blocks at Gateway Park by way of a 99 year sub-lease.

The sale agreement was signed and subsequently a sub-lease was issued and registered by the Lands department with his interest and noted on the title, despite him claiming that he has never been given ownership documents.

He even borrowed USD1 million from I&M Bank by using his sub–lease as security, but still insists that he could not rent out his property as his sub–lease is an invalid document and wants his own separate title.

“Other International companies at Gateway have followed this market norm without any issues. His intentions for this nonsense are unknown and we hope and know Judicial system will see this soon and review their decision,” says a source at Gateway.

Here is a list of cases involving the businessman and other entities.
