Telkom Kenya has officialy upped the mobile market price wars by becoming the first mobile service provider to let customers make free calls within its network.

The Bunda- free calls to all promotion will see Orange mobile customers make free calls to all subscribers on Orange mobile, Orange Wireless or Telkom Fixed from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m daily from Monday 26th July 2010 until 31st August 2010.

After these hours, customers will then enjoy making calls at Kshs. 1 per minute to friends and family and Kshs. 4 to others on the same network and Kshs. 8 for off net calls.

The promotion intends to ensure that Telkom Kenya, under its Orange commercial brand acquires more customers while rewarding the existing ones.

Mickael Ghossein, Telkom Kenya CEO said,  “Our aim is to ensure that existing and potential subscribers can access the unrivalled services that Orange offers, around the country at a location convenient to them, and in an environment that is reliable with their evolving lifestyles. This is also to appreciate our customers for the two years they have been part of Orange”.

To subscribe customers are required to load airtime on their Orange mobile phone, have a credit balance of more than 100, then purchase a Bunda 100 by dialing *100# and proceed to make unlimited on net calls every day from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

“Telkom Kenya is ready to launch 3G services in the fourth quarter of the year. We have had successful tests in strategic areas of the country and as soon as we get the frequencies we will start deploying the requisite technology that will see us roll out faster and enhanced data services. Once this is done we will introduce unrivalled value added data services to our customers so that they can enjoy new age communication”, the CEO further reiterated.
