Former Brazil President Michel Temer was arrested today in the ongoing graft probe in the country.
The 78-year-old Temer was arrested in Sao Paulo by police, and is among the senior-most politicians and corporate leaders who have been arrested so far in the probe.
The ex-president is facing charges of money laundering at a currency exchange business at a petrol station in Brasilia, now dubbed ‘operation car wash’.
Others who have been arrested so far include former mines and energy minister Moreira Franco who was detained alongside six others.

Temer took over from Workers Party president, Dilma Rousseff, and was impeached and removed from office in 2016.
Upon his exit, he was faced with several accusations of corruption.
He could be the second president to be jailed after former leftist president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is serving a 12-year jail term after being found guilty in two corruption cases.
The corruption scandal involves millions of dollars in kickbacks and more than 80 politicians and members of the business elite.
