Google and Motorola Union Might Be Dangerous to Partners

So Google and Motorola have become one. The move to buy Motorola at $12.5 Billion has reportedly increased the size of Google by almost 60%. But is this move a plus for Google or what? It seems that Google is thinking very much on how to contain Apple, Microsoft and Facebook that many of the moves now are all directed to that effect. This move seems to be more at protecting patents which analysts have called the biggest threat to innovation.

The smartphone hardware makers like Samsung, HTC, Huawei and LG have to be scared that their partner is now their fiercest competitor. I don’t know how Google will handle the issue of competiting against its partners but it might have taken some of the hardware makers to the drawing board. Samsung might try to popularise their Bada OS or join the Windows fray and HTC might also be going the Windows way just to scatter their investments.

Google’s Android is now just euphoria and without optimisation of various app for specific handsets, it will remain a clear looser in being the platform for the masses. Fragmentation or the clutter in Android will always make it my last choice.

These quotes from partners are not helping matters because reality is so different.
