Kenyatta University student Nicholas Koech who is reported to have stabbed his girlfriend Naomi Chepkemboi will have to stay in police custody for eight more days  to pave way for investigations.

The prosecution said that the investigations would have to be extended to Bomet county where the two come from.

Koech who seemed remorseful when talking to journalists said that he acted out of love for his wife and daughter. He asked the court to allow him to see his wife and daughter before his case commences.

“Before the case commences, I would like to be allowed to see my daughter and also my wife who is admitted at hospital,” Koech said

The suspect said that he was angered by Chepkemboi’s family barring him from accesing hand taking care of his child.

Naomi is my wife and I love her very much. We started dating back in 2016 while she was a first year,” he said.

Police said that they have detained Koech so as to speak to both their families after they discovered that he spoke to them before the incident that happened on Sunday afternoon.

“We also need time to extract phone communication of both the victim and the suspect,” Investigating officer Evans Kiboi.
