The Attorney General, Githu Muigai held a press conference earlier today to give direction on the legitimacy of the presidency. He said that in accordance to the constitution there is no lacuna as the president continues to enjoy full executive powers until the day that a new president will be sworn in.

The AG noted that there was nothing as a caretaker government or president.Githu Muigai said that if the elections would not take place within the 60 days it would not de-legitimize the government of the day.

However, NASA enthusiasts took to twitter to discredit the Attorney General’s directions.

AG Githu Muigai lost relevance, despite solid legal foundation, by confusing the role of GOK legal adviser with that of a Court jester.

The only Constitutional direction AG Githu Muigai can give anyone is directions to where you can find hard copies of the constitution.

Githu Muigai said that there will be no constitutional crisis and also reiterated that no election can be overturned on the basis of a candidate boycotting.

This comes after NASA had stated that there will be no elections if some of the demands put across are not met.
