Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Friday took a swipe at embattled Nairobi County Governor, Mike Sonko saying that the he should not be impeached but sent back to jail.
Sonko reportedly escaped from Shimo la Tewa prison in 1998 but was re-arrested in 1999 to attend his mother’s burial, Saumu Mbuvi.
The governor was re-arrested in 1999 and taken to Kamiti Maximum Security Prison and then set free in 2000. He was in both instances charged with forgery of documents aimed at acquiring a prime land in Mombasa.
But the county boss denies ever running away from prison saying that his political foes were out to tarnish his good name.
“It is WRONG to impeach Hon Gov Sonko. It is RIGHT to send him back to prison so that he serves the reminder of his jail term,” Ahmednasir said on Twitter.

The governor has been facing backlash from city residents and leaders over poor service delivery; poor drainage, bad roads, garbage collection and the most recent one, his nomination of controversial lawyer, Miguna Miguna as his deputy.
Nairobi county assembly representatives rejected his nominee on the basis that he, Miguna is not a member of the Jubilee party.
The deported NRM general on his part dismissed the appointment and only referred to it as a ‘malicious distraction.’
