Mudavadi’s ANC Party Rebukes Attack On Kakamega Offices

Amani National Congress (ANC) party has condemned the arson attempt in their Kakamega offices that took place on Monday leading to the destruction of documents.

Through the party’s Secretary-General Barrack Muluka, the party indicated that there is no cause for alarm over the loss of documents adding that it is committed to upholding democracy and combating efforts to kill multiparty democracy through intimidation.

“In the past, the party and its national leadership have come under spirited verbal assault by our detractors, political competitors and their agents both from within and without,” Muluka is quoted by Star.

He added, “Such banditry must be discouraged, for it is going to unnecessarily heighten political temperatures in Western Kenya.”

Earlier, Kahawa Tungu had reported that a section of the ANC party offices in Kakamega were in the wee hours of Monday morning set ablaze and important documents destroyed by the fire.

According to online sources, the Musalia Mudavadi party offices were burnt down by goons suspected to have been hired by rival politicians.

Julius Arunga, the branch chairman, confirmed the incident saying that unknown people broke one of the office’s windows and doused the inside with petrol before lighting the fire.

“Fortunately, only the store was burnt but the rest of documents and other items are intact. We don’t want to speculate, but it is not a coincidence, ” said Arunga.
