Arthur Fery is a British professional tennis player born on 12 July 2002 in Sèvres, France, near Paris.

His parents are both French: father Loïc Féry, a prominent businessman and hedge fund manager who founded the investment firm Chenavari and serves as president of the French football club FC Lorient, and mother Olivia Féry, a former professional tennis player.

Olivia competed on the WTA Tour, reached a career-high singles ranking of 225, appeared in the women’s doubles main draw at the 1991 French Open, and later represented Hong Kong in the Fed Cup.

Although born in France and holding French nationality, he identifies strongly as British, represents Great Britain on the ATP Tour, and has received support from the Lawn Tennis Association.

He studied Science, Technology and Society at Stanford University in California before focusing fully on his professional career.

    Siblings

Arthur is the eldest of three children. He has a younger sister named Albane and a younger brother named Maxime.

The siblings were raised together in London after the family’s move from France and spent childhood summers in France, either at a family home near La Rochelle or with relatives in Nice.

Albane attended college in the United States at Wake Forest University.

Maxime studies at Imperial College in London, where he also plays tennis, and has been involved with the Wimbledon Championships in a working capacity.

    Career

Fery began playing tennis at a young age, influenced by his mother’s professional experience.

He initially trained with coach Alison Taylor at Westside Tennis Club near his home before progressing to other academies.

As a junior, he achieved significant success, winning multiple World Tennis Junior singles and doubles titles and reaching as high as No. 12 in the junior rankings.

His notable junior results included a semi-final appearance in boys’ doubles at Wimbledon.

After attending King’s College School, he chose to enrol at Stanford University rather than turning fully professional immediately.

At Stanford, he excelled in collegiate tennis, becoming the first Stanford player since Bob Bryan to be ranked No. 1 in NCAA singles.

He also earned Pac-12 Champion status, ITA All-American honours, and Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year recognition.

Following his college years, he competed primarily on the Challenger circuit.

He secured titles including his first at Barranquilla in 2025 while also gaining experience in Grand Slam doubles and mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

His breakthrough came in 2026 when, ranked outside the top 100 and entering Wimbledon as a wildcard, he produced a remarkable run.

The run included victories over higher-ranked opponents such as Grigor Dimitrov and Flavio Cobolli. He reached the semi-finals before falling to Alexander Zverev.

    Accolades

Fery’s most prominent achievement is reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships as a wildcard.

He became only the second men’s singles wildcard in the Open era to advance that far at the tournament and one of a select group of British men to reach the last four.

This run elevated him to a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 36 on 13 July 2026, one day after his 24th birthday.

It also confirmed him as the British No. 1. In collegiate tennis, he was ranked No. 1 nationally in singles by the NCAA.

He was named Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year in 2023, selected as a two-time ITA All-American, and earned multiple All-Pac-12 and academic honours.

As a junior, he captured several World Tennis Junior titles in singles and doubles and attained a top-15 ranking.

On the professional circuit, he has won Challenger-level titles and accumulated substantial prize money, with his Wimbledon performance significantly boosting his earnings and ranking trajectory.
