‘You Are A Weak Leader,’ Atwoli Criticizes Uhuru Over Delayed Cabinet Appointments

President Uhuru Kenyatta is a weak leader, Central Organizations for Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has said.

The head of state, he says is taking too long to name a cabinet, something that should not take him more than four weeks.

”Crafting a dream cabinet is a very easy task, yet it is taking him three to four weeks to put together his cabinet list. He is a weak leader, Uhuru is a weak leader. He is allowing people harbor suspicion on how he is going about his business. He should not exhibit his weakness by delaying to name his cabinet. There is a lot of anxiety among Kenyans on which people would be named as cabinet secretaries and principal secretaries. Fraudulent people are thriving in such an environment,” Atwoli said over the weekend as he attended a funeral service in Shinyalu.

The President on January 5 retained six cabinet secretaries; Fred Matiang’i, Najib Balala, Joe Mucheru, Charles Keter and James Macharia.

Up for vetting are; Keriako Tobiko, John Munyes and former Marsabit Governor Ukur Yattani.

Kenyatta was reportedly going to fill the remaining 13 slots last week but left for South Africa.

The naming process has been an uphill task for both Uhuru and his Deputy, William Ruto with some saying that the duo could not agree on some of the appointments.
