Thirdway Alliance presidential candidate, Ekuru Aukot has called for top IEBC officials to resign as they were responsible for the bungled August 8 election as was noted in the Supreme Court ruling.

He has noted that it would be ‘foolhardy to have the same officials responsible for an irregular election manage the fresh presidential polls.’

The lawyer has maintained that they are not interested in the disbandment of the electoral body but only want the chairman, Wafula Chebukati, CEO Ezra Chiloba, Legal affairs officer Praxedes Tororey, ICT Director James Muhati and Immaculate Kassait to step aside and allow for investigations.

Mr Aukot has said the individuals mentioned above should exit so as to restore the peoples trust in the commission and as a show of respect and patriotism.

The Thirdway Alliance party leader has also said that Ngunjiri Wambugu’s petition to oust Chief Justice David Maraga was ill informed and was only a political side show.

He has however noted that he will be teaming up with ‘progressive voices to ensure that the constitution is protected.’

The presidential hopeful pointed out that he was disappointed in the IEBC chairman for locking out the other August 8 presidential candidates.

The case that is already in court will be heard on Monday, 18 September to determine whether he and other 5 hopefuls will be on the ballot.
