The salaries and Renumeration commission(SRC) has vowed to move to court to block  the members of parliament bid to increase their salaries after passing a legislation that will see them get a housing allowance. SRC says housing needs for MPs have already been covered in their gross pay; Sh 250000 housing allowance is illegal. “Public Service Commission acted illegally. A three judge bench consisting of Justice William Ouko, Wanjoru Karanja and Jamila Mohamed have dismissed an appeal by Wambua Musyoki to have his daughters confession admitted as evidence in his appeal. The court of appeal said that the application was time barred as time for filing and admitting evidence had lapsed. Police have impounded expired rice in Kariobangi from Kimende stores. The rice which had earlier been packaged as ‘Amar’ and ‘Day to Day’ was repackaged to ‘Red Rose’ and ‘Peacock Parboil Five Star’. The rice was discovered after an impromptu search by the polce at a godown that operates as Kimende stores. Ousted Sudan President Omar Al Bashir has been charged with involvement in the killing of anti government protesters. The office of the prosecutor general said that the former president and others had been charged with incitement and participating in the killing of the protesters. The rights group Physicians for Human Rights has estimated that Sudanese security forces killed more than 60 people during a failed crackdown on the protests. Police in Lamu have arrested their colleague suspected to have sexually assaulted a woman in her house while drunk. The officer identified as David King’ori has been detained in the Lamu police Station following the incident. The police officer was arrested after the victim locked him inside her house. Police in Kasarani have intercepted a fuel tanker frying bhang worth Sh8 million suspected to have originated from Ethiopia. DCI officers also said that the registration number on the fuel tanker was also fake. The driver and turn boy exchanged the registration from point to point to avoid detection “They hide the bhang inside a compartment in the tanker and this has been taking place for long now,” he said. The former Independent Policing Oversight Authority chairman Machariah Njeru trounced Professor Tom Ojienda to clinch the seat of the Law Society of Kenya male representative to the Judicial Service Commission. Machariah who was known as the silent candidate garnered 2,738 votes over Ojienda’s 2,545 votes in a tightly contested elections. The Chief Justice Maraga has made a public pronouncement from the the Judicial service commission (JSC) regarding cases against judges. The CJ stated that the petition filed against judges of the Supreme court Justice Njoki Ndung’u and the Justice Ojwang by lawyer Apollo Mboya in the ruling of the case of Nick Salat had been withdrawn. The office of the Directorate of public prosecutions (DPP) has dropped the charged of the Moroccan company and its directors for allegedly importing fertilizer laced with mercury. The DPP and the lawyer representing the company Paul Muite entered into a plea agreement that was adopted by the court. The plea agreement and the withdrawal however does not include the Kenya Bureau of Standards(KEBS) MD Charles Ongwae  who was among those charged with them.
